No I've not abandoned the cell phone thing. In fact it will continue tomorrow. That is the nice part about having it finished. Except for the fact that I could have done a better job. You'll live. Just thought I'd talk about this week so far.
Sister was supposed to be released from the hospital Monday. So glad she wasn't. Got belted with a pretty nice snow storm. Got into work a little late so missed my gym time. Had about an inch in the parking lot, good to see they hadn't done any prep work. I mean the pick up we have with the plow, was sitting snow covered in the loading dock.
The crazy co-worker came in. There's a whole sub story there so we'll just say I encouraged her to go home. Got a phone call from my sister, they would be holding her until Tuesday. Good that was off my mind.
The building was still empty. By 10 most of the people, not many, who came in left. Few departments were still there. Ours and legal of course. The email went out about 11 that it was encouraged for us to stay and work from home if we could. Otherwise use our own discretion. We could go home, that would mean of course using a day off.
The word was that the legal department was dicing over the wording of the announcement. Ahh lawyers. And think about it. Sort of shows they care, well in a twisted way. They'd of course loose money if they closed the building. Just think of all the people they would have to pay. So by 12 when the announcement came, only the people remaining would be taken care of. The amount was less than 50.
Making rounds of course came across 1 typical person. Who'd apparently no clue it was going to snow. They needed gas.
I left about 1:10, manager was staying. By the parking lot I could tell we'd started the plowing. My car was now surrounded by at least a foot of snow rubble. Gee thanks. Cleaned off the car, let it warm. I was good to go. Oh I should mention I'd not thought to bring my work boots. So all this was done in my sneakers.
Couldn't make it forward. Checked my rear and backed out of the spot beautifully. Took forever to spell that last word of that sentence. I lit up a cigar I'd brought with me and drove home. Side roads were worrisome. The highway I did about 45 in the right hand lane. Must say we did the least braking there too.
I'd hoped as I got down the side streets that maybe one of my neighbors had plowed my driveway. Really hoped. Slightly disappointed I parked across the street and trudged up to the garage. Snow blower? Check. Gas, please? Check. I was good to go.
It was a heavy wet snow but the blower did what it was supposed to. 20 minutes later I was parked in my driveway. Good times. Called sister and manager to let them know I'd arrived.
Tuesday was gorgeous, in a February kind of way. Brother in law got sister home. Had a relaxing drive back here and made dinner. Course they were fighting last night. As I went to sleep that is.
Today the road is covered again. Supposed to be some sort of icy crap. Shall be a fun ride. Yes I'm going in. I really don't have any days off right now. Besides being stuck here with them doesn't sound the least bit appealing. And another storm is supposed to hit on Sunday into Monday again. Weeeee!

Sunday.
Morning. Just did the bakery run this morning. We had a dusting of snow last night. About an inch of the powdery stuff. I glanced at it with great trepidation. My knee has been making small improvements. I have also not been asking a great deal of it. Not so much hurting. Uncomfortable, stiff, unable to raise it at times. Really hoping I didn't do some bad damage.
So the thought of icy snow just did not tickle me in any kind of good way. Was really happy, after my 1st cup of coffee, when I embarked and found it not slippery.
Hoping my brother in law will shovel. May be asking to much.
Enjoying my second cup of the good stuff. Aggravated, didn't take a pill that needs to be taken on an empty stomach. It is a precursor to another one that tears up the stomach lining, which it has already proven it will. So my treats must wait until 8:30. NO! I do not consider coffee a food group. It is akin to air at times :)
As you probably don't know, I finally got the IPhone 4s. Got it on this past Wednesday. It is definitely a big adjustment. And the guys at the store out and out lied to me. Told me I was getting a 1gb data plan, nope, they signed me up for a much larger one. We'll get to that.
Was a rough night, we did take out. I got the phone, brought it home and played with it for a little. I then manually added all my contacts from my old phone. Why? Because my old phones old Sim card wouldn't transfer. Next day uneventful, did notice the battery was draining incredibly fast.
Showed it to one co-worker, yes I did have it in the life proof case. He showed me how to unscrew the top, it didn't pull off like I tried. That was where the head phone jack went. 1 lesson down. Another showed me how to turn off all the applications that I had turned on. They are battery drainers he said. So now it doesn't drain quite so fast.
It has been a transition. I am not a fan of the voice Suri thing. Give me time. I am taking it slow. It is how I always am. I can see myself eventually getting a lot out of this phone, just not right away. Some neat features. So we shall see. So far it is easy not to be one of those people always checking on it. Oh and the first night while charging I was able to download podcast to it. I'm looking forward to listening to them while shopping on Super Bowl Sunday.
Nice segue. Yes today is the Super Bowl. I'm about as disinterested as I have ever been. I almost don't want to go to the lounge today. They'll offer me to stay. If I go it will be quick. Mostly I don't go because I am fear full of the night. A lot of dark roads and too many drunks celebrating and driving. I pass.
Oh back to the phone. What I did on Thursday. I called my carrier. Spoke to someone about the phone, the billing, what I had what I didn't have. That was when I found I was not on the 1gb plan but the 5gb. I'm not downgrading it just yet, financially I can handle it this month. I'm expecting some stupid mistakes on my part.
I also found out about a few other things on the phone I most likely don't want or forgot to ask about. For instance I do not have a texting plan. Fine, few know about the upgrade and I've yet to text at all. So for right now if someone does it will cost me .20 cents. There's a map feature that I can try for free until March 24th. Then it's 24.99 monthly, yup that goes. So it is always a good idea to call and check these things.
I hope everyone has a good day. If you're a fan hope for a good game and get home safe. Later
