It was off to the larger township. Not a far road. Just past the now 1 car lane where 2 way traffic was supposed to go I saw blacktop. Never been so happy to see it before. Cheerily enjoying the ride, doing about 5-10 miles below the speed limit. No one seemed to be silly enough to chance it. I hit the main street.
Again lanes slightly compromised, but passable. Sidewalks not entirely dug out, parking lots were being taken care of. Just had to make the supermarket. What was I getting? Cold cuts for their lunches, mountain dew for them, one of them factory cakes for....well mostly for my sister. I did mention they take sandwiches daily for lunch right? Oh and breads. Yes a ridiculous errand but I was glad to be out of the house.
The parking lot was another matter entirely. Plowed....yes? Mostly plowed. Wound up parking in the far way back. Not a problem, thankfully I can walk. The biggest threat was in front of the store. Snow removal tractor and truck in full operation don't you know.
Store was crowded but not to bad. I was astonished to see so many other people needed cold cuts. Then I reminded myself that a lot of people do their weekly shopping on Sunday. I can attest to that. Errand done. They actually had people out front for a local hospital. Thought that took balls. I don't remember the thing they were there for. Was a good cause so I signed it.
Relight cigar and drove home. Decided to dart down what I considered a main road so went left at the light. Nope secondary. Grueling ride. My side looked pretty well travelled, but I drove it in 2nd gear nonetheless. The oncoming traffic's side hadn't been plowed at all. Ugh. This road basically intersects and ends up back onto the blacktop road later on. So was very glad to be back.
At home, streets were treacherous, knew I was done going out for the day. Made the right at my street ignoring the stop sign because no one was there; I didn't want to get stuck. Brother in law popped his head out and asked if I needed help. I considered and said yes. I'd finish my smoke by carrying the groceries and handing them off to him at the stoop. Worked well.
After a bit he reminded me about the dryer vent. "Yeah I know", I replied, not minding. Because it would be an adventure and another cigar. You see the vent for the dryer where the steam can be released was snow covered. It was also clear on the other side of the house from the closest door. So it meant trekking through 3-4 foot snow banks in the back to get there. Plus a mini forest I need to deal with this summer.
Okay just got word that the windows are frosted on the cars. I know I forgot to leave my car unlocked so this could be bad. So that's it for today.
