It's about 4:30, of course I've coffee. Yesterday huh? Sister stayed home with a migraine. I was stoked I couldn't wait to get to work, was literally out the door by 6:20. Stopped for a very good sausage egg and cheese sandwich from a deli I like. I really really need to buy oatmeal this weekend. My 6 month supply has run out.
Arrived at work and said Happy New Year to my co-worker who'd been off awhile, nice guy in his late 60's, he was very focused. Now I arrived about 7 and I start at 8. In all the hullabaloo of the new cafeteria opening in my building, have I mentioned this?
Long story short I work in a very nice building by my standards, gym, cafeteria, which I haven't eaten at in years, but I will buy seltzer from them. Forget the short part sorry. When I first arrived at the end of the 90's the cafeteria was simply phenomenal. The company that ran it was simply awesome, the business was still owned by the original people. You ate off of plates with silverware. You bought food that was delicious and a bargain and never left hungry. The cafeteria was packed.
Essentially a food service company in a building only has the expense of food and staff, so it is usually a win win situation. Well a decade or more later we've now been through many in my term there. It has been a downhill slide all the way unfortunately. Everything from nastiness (and I don't mean just attitudes) to high prices.
So we are on our new one. They spent the last 2 weeks preparing the kitchen and painting the eating area and such. It came out nice actually. Within 5 minutes of my arrival came in the boss of my boss. Had I these things that were needed for the cafeteria. I literally had no clue. I found a few printed items and we reviewed an email and said I'd print the remainder.
Do remember, I'd been off on Monday due to my manager's grace, and been told not to count it as a day off. Sooo that left me with stuff to do, and it would take an hour and my gym was off. I suppose I could have pointed out that I wasn't on the clock but that would of been stupid. And lets face it what's the point, it's not like civil service where they can do that. I've seen most civil service buildings by the way. Drab paint, vending machines, no gym and no cafeteria. So that was the start to my week. So hopefully the gym today.
The talkative one was alright. Nothing to major actually. She is in love with the new cafeteria, which really is another entry all on its own. Another co-worker, who was off the last 3 weeks, lost his grandmother, sad to hear about that. So obviously they'll be out for awhile. Also my manager is now off until next Tuesday. You know what that means right? O-to the V- to the ER to TIME is on my side.
later.
