Will have to leave for a moment, you'll never notice, to let the dog in. Finally have her in a good rhythm. Outside at about 5:30 A.M. or so. Again round 6 in the eve, 20 min after dinner, and final time is 8:30. Can be dicey when it's raining. She doesn't like to go out and I have to go with her. But enough about the canine. I'm just happy to have a few weeks of no mess in the house to clean up.
Background on the beginning. Some where and some time my company decided we need new chairs for the employees. Ridiculous said I. So on Friday we got 2 tractor trailers full of about 500 new chairs. And some how, in a building that doesn't have 500 people there weren't enough. My department and maintenance didn't get new chairs. On the other hand, we were invited to take what chairs we liked home. What! Oh yeah baby! I asked one of the guys I know in maintenance to secure me 2 of the ones in any of the conference rooms. They're the best, that is if they were getting rid of them.
Had the chairs secured in my area by 9. Knew I had to get them out on Saturday so I arranged to borrow the company transit. It's a vehicle, look it up. Lots of agida for me, I always get this way. My manager even suggested taking them home and returning the vehicle Friday night. I declined. It was misty, Friday night, and I was terrified of something happening to the vehicle in my care.
After telling the inmates I'd made arrangements with my brother in law to drive to work with me about 10 in the morning. A 20 minute trip, roads still damp, my spirits were low. I just had a bad feeling about it. To cheer myself I brought along a cigar for the ride home when it was over. Got to my building, down stairs, told the guy on duty what I was doing and I had clearance. My brother in law was very happy with what we got. I was happy that both chairs fit in the transit. The drive back to my house was stressful. I actually had to struggle to keep it under 60 mph. Lot's of cops on the road. Dropped the chairs off, told him I wasn't sure about getting rid of my old one. Ahh the old one.
I'd gotten it at a garage sale. It was nice. Definitely smaller than this. Red fabric. Handles that were permanent but didn't connect with the back so I could hang a garbage bag off of it. The lower back sort of ended and there was a space. At some point something happened to it and the bottom piece protruded. Wore a hole in my carpet which was a benefit, because on a normal floor the wheels couldn't connect to the floor on account of this thing. Never could figure out how to fix it. It had served me well for over a decade. And now I felt separation anxiety. "There's really nothing wrong with..." I told myself. "It fits my room perfectly." I do have a tiny room. I was glad to leave it at 18, but that is another story. So I dropped off the chairs left mine in the kitchen and returned the van. As I was right near work there was a cop on in the middle of the road. As I passed his lights went on. I was so paranoid. But only a few tenths away from work. Never came after me, don't know why the lights went on. I returned the keys and told the man watching the building to enjoy the rest of his weekend.
Oh an odd thing. When I first arrived, the tall back chairs, the ones that weren't allowed to be taken. Not losing cohesion, but, it was a fun day Friday.watching people struggling to get their office chairs into cars. Anyway. Back in my car, lit my cigar and was in heaven. The deed was done.
Back home. Brother in law had managed to get his chair into the basement, he said he loved it. Mine remained in the kitchen. I struggled to get the old one out of my room, cluttered doorway. I also put it in the kitchen, so unhappy to get rid of it, even though it was broke and time to go. Well as I moved it again, carrying it, I tripped on a the remainder of a six of sprite in the kitchen, chair went flying and it broke a wheel, my choice had been made for me. I escorted it to the curb immediately. I should mention that my brother in law had left on some errand.
I went out and by the time I arrived home the chair was gone. Apparently, as my brother in law arrived home he saw what happened. A scavenger, dude in a pickup, had stopped looked at it and put it in his truck. Oh and I did put the broken wheel, what was left of it, out with it.
It took a lot of work but the new chair is ensconced in my room. It's tight in here now, but doable. It is very comfy and overall I think I'm glad I have it. Lucky me huh? Okay that's really enough here. Sunday was football at the lunge and some errands and stuff. Have a Day.
